Shivapuri Trekking

Shivapuri trekking is the nearest and shortest trek located north of Kathmandu. It combines a wilderness hike through Shivapuri National Park, age-old culture of indigenous Tamang community, a visit to the famous hill station of Nagarkot and constant backdrop of Himalayan peaks throughout the trek.

The trail starts from Budanilkantha and quickly goes up hill to Chisapani via Shivapuri hill. Chisapani (2500m) is an ancient village inhabited by Tamang community and offers great views of L:angtang, Ganesh, Manaslu and Annapurna Himalayan ranges. You are now inside the Shivapuri National Park, the newest protected area in Nepal known for birding activity. 

It will take another day of walking through terraced fields and quiet villages to reach Nagarkot (2175m), a strategic viewpoint to catch beautiful sunrise and a panorama of Himalayan ranges from Annapurna in the west to Everest and Kanchenjunga in the east. 
Note: There is an option for trekkers to take a detour to Dhulikhel instead of Nagarkot and exit from there to Kathmandu.
