If you are looking for an adventurous trekking in a remote area away from crowded tea-house trails among pristine wilderness, then look no further then Makalau Salpa Pass trekking program. The trail lies in the Eastern region of Nepal covering two highest mountains in Nepal: tallest Mt. Everest (8848m) and Mt. Makalu (8481m), the fifth tallest. The trek begins from Tumlingtar and goes up the Arun Valley drenched by the magnificent Arun river. The valley falls within the Makalu Barun National Park which is a wilderness paradise full of a variety of beautiful wild animals, birds and colorful flowers. You will cross Salpa pass at an altitude of 3800m to reach Salpa Lake (3414m), a Himalayan wetland, which is revered and protected by Kirati Rai and Limbu people. From here you can enjoy tremendous views of Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Sharste, Chamlang, Mera Peak and even Everest.

Further you cross over three passes Surke La (3070m), Narkung or Chaduk La (3161 m) and Kari La (3059 m) finally entering into the Khumbu valley of Everest region. You will trek down to Lukla via Namche enjoying stunning views of Everest, Makalu, Thamserku, Baruntse among others. While in Namche and Phakding, you can observe lively Sherpa culture and their warm hospitality.
