This Helambu village situated at 2,500m high calling potato and radish in local term is mainly inhabited by Sherpas and Tamang people. This place has tempting scenes and pleasant climate. And a long history of Buddhist culture and ancient tradition are found here like the other parts of the Sherps people. The eye attracting view of Mt. Langtang, Mt. Shisapanma, Mt. Gaurishankar, and Panch Pokhari can be seen along with enchanting flora and fauna on the way. You'll be greeted by ever smiling Sherpa belles. This ideal place is for a short trek known as Trekker's Utopia.
The Sherpa villages of Helambu, situated due north of Kathmandu valley presents an easy getaway to round Gosaikunda and Langtang trek. Also the trekkers can start this trek from Trisuli bazaar north of Kathmandu traveling by bus. But now a days there is direct bus to Dhunche far beyond to Trishuli. For a short cut we can make this trip in 6-7 days as well. Starting with a short drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal the trail to Helambu climbs on to the Shivapuri ridge from where there are sweeping views of the central Himalayas. Following a ridge-line heads to north for Thare Pati and before turning east to Melemchi village and Tarke Gyang are the main villages of this area. From here we visit Shermathang before descending to the Melamchi River to end our trek, then with a drive from Melamchi Bazaar back to Kathmandu.
Moderate trek through the Helambu villages is between the altitudes of 1,370m/4,500ft to 3,490m/11,500ft. Accommodations in comfortable lodges run by local families are available here. The trek starts with a drive from Kathmandu and includes all meals, services with expert trekking guide and porters to carry luggage are arranged. Clients should carry a light day-pack only and can walk at their own relax.
