Lake: Damodar Kunda Lake trek
Damodar Kunda trek was opened for trekkers in the year 2002. The main destination of Damodar Kunda lake trek is Damodar Kunda, a high altitude lake situated at 4890m. Situated in the north of Annapurna range in Mustang district, the lake is revered by Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims who gather around full moon in August.
The trail forks north from Annapurna trekking route. The walk to the Damodar Kund Lake is easy but quite tedious because of the long distance that needs to be covered. The trek takes you to remotest corner of Nepal near Tibet. The Lake offers magnificent views of Annapurna, Mustang Himal (6234m), Muktinath Himal (6,706m), Bhrikuti Peak (6,364m), Chuungian Chanma Himal (6165m) and Arniko Chuli (6034m). You will also visit Lomanthang, the medieval capital of Mustang kingdom, Buddhist monasteries and chortens, caves, cliffs etc.
