On the lap of Mount Everest and Mount Makalu lies the 7129 meters elevated Mount Baruntse which was first ascended by Colin Todd and Geoff Harrow on 30 May 1954 via the South -East Ridge. Since then, many climbers have successfully ascended this Summit via the same route. This mountain is also becoming a most yearning destination like the mount Pumori, Ama Dablam and the Mount Everest. The route of south -East Ridge of Baruntse is filled with steeps and hard sections of 50 Degree's elevation with a prominent ice cliff to be climbed facing the risk of avalanche that's why it is the difficult way. Mount Baruntse expedition is preferred during spring season for the safety of the climbers; however climbers have reached on its top in the autumn season as well.
Monterosa Treks and Expedition, located at Thamel have been organizing Mount Baruntse Expedition from Kathmandu and Lukla flight followed by an approximately 11 days trekking to Baruntse Base Camp. After accomplishing the mission of Expedition, we use the same Lukla and Kathmandu route to return back. The Base Camp of Baruntse is located nearby Panch Pokhari (5200m). One can begin the expedition also via Arun valley via Makalu Base camp as well.
