Manaslu is situated in central Himalayan range and is part of Mansiri Himal, which also includes Himalchuli (7893m), Ngadi Chuli (7871m), Shringi (7187m), Langpo (6668m) and Saula (6235m). Standing at an impressive height of 8163m, Manaslu is a peak of choice for experienced mountaineers. However, achieving the feat of conquering the world’s eighth highest mountain is not an easy task.
Like the previous year Manaslu is open for climbing in spring of 2019. Spring is perhaps the best season for climbing the peak since the risk of snowfall and avalanches is at its lowest. Avalanches frequently occur above 6500m and strong winds and bad weather often has turned back many teams. In fact, Manaslu has been known as the fourth most dangerous mountain for expeditions after Annapurna, Nanga Parbat and K2. The mountain has been successfully attempted from different directions. In 1956 the Japanese expedition made it to the top through the east face, two expeditions in 1971 approached from northwest spur and north-east face, the 1972 team opened the southwest face, 1973 team reached the summit via north-east face and in 1980 normal route was used.
The base camp is set up at the altitude of 4800m. Mountaineers usually have to go through 4 camps before making final launch to the summit with Camp 4 at a comfortable height of 7900m. Monterosa Treks & Expedition offers all the logistics required to operate a successful expedition on an 8000-er. We provide the most experienced Sherpa climbers to lead you to the top along with high altitude porters to carry oxygen cylinders, ladders and other necessities up the mountain. Our cooks have years of experience in preparing the best and most nutritious food essential for the expedition team.
