Mount Mannaslu (8163m), was first climbed by a Japanese team north face expedition in 1953. The name of this mountain means Intellect or Soul as per Sanskrit language similar to that of holy Lake, Mansarovar nearby holy Mount Kailash. Japanese regard Manaslu as Japanese Mountain as the British considered Everest their mountain because Mount Manaslu was conquered by Japanese people for the every first time. HW Tillman and Jimmy Roberts photographed Manaslu during a trek in 1950. But the first real survey of the peak was made by a Japanese expedition in 1952. In 1953, a Japanese team made the first serious attempt on its peak from the Budi Gandaki valley. But, when another team followed in 1954, villagers of Sama gaon (Village) did not let them climb because they told them the first team had been responsible for an avalanche that destroyed a monastery that's why they set expedition to climb Ganesh Himal instead of Mount Manaslu.
Despite a large donation for the rebuilding of the monastery, the atmosphere still was full of animosity and mistrust. The second successful Japanese expedition was in 1971 and there was a South Korean attempt in 1971. In April 1972 an avalanche killed five climbers and 10 Sherpas ended the second made the fourth ascent of mount Manaslu, as a member of a Tyrolean expedition that climbed from the Marshyangdi valley in 1972. So Mount Manaslu (8163m) is one of the very popular and lovely mountains in the world and many foreigners are eager to conquer it.
