On the lap of Mount Everest and Mount Makalu, there lies the 7129 meters elevated beautiful mountain Baruntse. This mountain was first climbed by Colin Todd and Geoff Harrow on 30 May 1954 via South -East Ridge. Since then, many climbers have successfully ascended to the summit. This mountain is also becoming a most preferred destination like the mount Pumori, Ama Dablam and the Mount Everest. The south -East Ridge of Baruntse is little bit difficult because of the steeps and hard sections of 50 Degree's elevation with a prominent ice cliff to be climbed facing the risk of avalanche on the route. Spring season is secure for expedition but climbers also climb during autumn season.
The Monterosa Treks and Expedition has been organizing the Mount Baruntse scheduling the itinerary from Kathmandu and Lukla flight followed by an approximately 11 days trekking to Baruntse Base Camp. Having completed the trek, we use the same Lukla and Kathmandu route to return back. The Base Camp of Baruntse is located very nearby Panch Pokhari at an elevation of 5200m. Arun valley via Makalu Base camp route can be used to reach the Baruntse Mountain.
